In July 1985, the Fishguard & Goodwick Rugby Club said goodbye to their long serving secretary Mr Ifor Phillips after he had been chosen to become a referee by the Welsh Rugby Union. The president of the club, Mr Bryn Luke, presented Mr Ifor Phillips with an engraved silver salver as a token of thanks for the work he has put into the club, both playing rugby and being on the committee since he joined in 1963.
