Grand Bazaar at the Temperance Hall

On the 4th and 5th August 1898 a Grand Bazaar was held at the Temperance Hall (now the home of Theatr Gwaun) to raise funds for the Intermediate school building fund.

A programme was produced giving details of all the stalls that would be at the Bazaar together with a plan of the stalls layout within the Hall. The event was supported by all the “worthies” of the area and many of  the local shops and businesses took adverts in the programme.

All the advertisements provide a vivid picture of life in the town at that time.

The fund raising events were obviously successful as the new buildings for the school were opened in 1902.
