The ordination of Mr W.E Mathias- Williams Abertridwr and Penygraig, to the pastorate of Bethel English Baptist Church, took place on Wednesday, July 10th 1935 commencing at 2.30 p.m.

The ordination service was conducted by Principal T Phillips B A, D D, Baptist College Cardiff, and the president was Rev D.P David Cowbridge, Bethel’s first pastor.

Rev W.E Mathias Williams came to Bethel from Myrddin College in Carmarthen,; he laboured for four successful years at Bethel before accepting a call to Hanbury Road Church in Bargoed.
