Treble Chance

Fishguard’s quiz team in the BBC Radio 2 programme “Treble Chance” was pipped at the post by a team from Scotland in the final of the competition at the Fishguard Bay Hotel recently. The team – which had beaten other local teams – was chosen to represent Wales and after gaining a victory over the English team Malvern, met the Scottish team St John’s of Dairy in the final. The two teams were linked by a Post Office landline between Glasgow and Fishguard and competition was close until the last round, when St John’s pulled ahead. But each member of the Fishguard team was presented with a silver cup to commemorate their success in the event and were treated to a meal by Fishguard’s Mayor and Mayoress, Councillor and Mrs William Wentworth. Listeners to BBC Radio 2 can hear the first round of the competition on Sunday, December 28th at 7.02 p.m and the recording of the final will be broadcast on April 5th.
