Hi Alan – The Glendower may once have been a temperance hotel (as was the Seaview Hotel) but it certainly has been known as the Glendower at least since 1900. The Gwalia Hotel was in Main Street in the property now known as Gwalia House.
Replying to Stephen Lloyd-Jones’s comment above, with regard to his great grandparents Mr and Mrs Thomas. I can shed some light on this. The “Gwalia” may now be known as the Glendower Hotel. This was a temperance hotel in Goodwick and indeed my grandmother and her parents before her owned the Glendower. Her name was Elizabeth Mary Miles. I would be interested to make contact with you Stephen.
Hello – my great grandparents Mr & Mrs Thomas, owned the ‘Gwalia’ Temperance Hotel, Goodwick in the early part of the 20th century. I am wondering if you know their names
and the address of this hotel which might also have just been known as the temperance hotel. I want to look them up in the 1921 census information.
