Not many photographs survive of this particular public house which was on High Street in Fishguard. More frequently known as “The Bristol Trader” – the sign board on the wall reveals its full name as being “Fishguard and Bristol Trader – Tavern Wine and Spirit Vaults.
D J Williams, teacher at Fishguard Grammar School between 1919 and 1945, writer and political activist and one of the founder members of Plaid Cymru, lived with his wife at the Bristol Trader and it became a meeting place for hosts of friends.
D J Williams is considered by many, to be the finest of Welsh storytellers.
