The "Great Snow" of 1947

These snapshots were all taken in Fishguard during the heavy snowfall of 1947. The snow fell in February and lasted for several months. Many of the outlying villages such as LLanychaer were cut off, the inhabitants having to walk to Fishguard, in treacherous conditions, for food.
