Western Welsh - Glyn Miles Griffiths - Clerk to Inspector!

Glyn Miles Griffiths was born in the first house at the top the Slade in Fishguard before his parents moved to Pontiago where he was brought up, definitely a Pontiago boy! He married Lily May Harries who was of Bryn y Garn in Dinas.

He worked for many years for the Western Welsh Omnibus Company and it is his collection of photos and memories of his working life that are preserved on this site.

He started with the Western Welsh Omnibus Company working as a bus cleaner at aged 15. He worked continually for the company  (except for a break for National Service in the RAF) through to when they became National Welsh and sadly was made redundant just before he was entitled to retire. Over the years he progressed through roles as a clerk, mechanic, conductor, driver at Fishguard, then Inspector at Haverfordwest and Depot Inspector/Superintendent at Bridgend.

  • Thanks for putting all memories of Western Welsh ‘out there’ for all of us who, at the time (40/50s) we’re so reliant on this Service. Great memories – from catching the 0845 from Panteg to get to FGS – to (when a bit older!), – the unforgettable ‘last bus’ home on a Saturday night, full of merriment!, with singing accompanied by John Williams of (Trefin?), on his harmonica. Happy days! 🤭🤗👏🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿
