In September 1955, the former Prime Minister, Rt Hon. Clement Attlee, visited Fishguard to open the new Labour Party Hall……..today’s Unity Hall.

Opening of New Party H.Q. for North Pembrokeshire.
The Rt. Hon. Clement R. Attlee, O.M., C.H., M.P. Leader of the opposition and former Prime Minister, was accorded a warm welcome and ovation by a large crowd on Saturday evening (3rd September) when he opened the new Labour Hall at Fishguard.
Mr Attlee is staying at Llysaber, Newport, (Pem.) and this was his first appearance since his recent illness. He was accompanied by Mrs Attlee, and was introduced to Mr Donnelly M.P for Pembrokeshire. Mrs Donnelly was also present. Mr A. Glyn Rees (chairman of the Fishguard Labour Party) presided.
Mr Attlee went on to congratulate Mr Donnelly and the local Labour Party on its great achievement at the last General Election.

Wonderful to have these images to add to the history of Unity Hall (and thanks for linking my contribution about it.) Somewhere I have seen a photo of the opening celebrations outside the hall, but cannot find it now. If anyone has it please share it.
