‘Abingdon Cafe Bed & Breakfast’ is from my grandmother Anne Burscough’s days when she also ran a grocery shop there, where my father Gilbert worked for her. He’s in the second photo in his white shopkeeper’s coat, and the chap on the left is, I think, his friend Peter Brailey. (Not sure if that’s how you spell his name). Dad said Peter was a strong swimmer, who had once rescued him when he got into difficulties between Land Pit and Lowertown and that he thought he would have been a goner if Peter hadn’t be there to help him!
The man in the centre was Jimmy Bennet from Heol Dyfed.
