Doyen Of Music-Miss Mali Evans of Fishguard

In recognition of her long and outstanding service to musical education, the council of the Curwen Institute has conferred an Honorary Fellowship on Miss Mali Evans, B. Mus. F.T.S.C. of 1, Vergam Terrace, Fishguard. The diploma will be presented to Miss Evans at 12 o’clock  on Thursday 7th August at the Music Studio of the 1986 National Eisteddfod at Fishguard. The Chairman will be Mr Alun Tegryn Davies and the presentation will be made by Dr W.H Swinburn, O.B.E., of the Curwen Institute.

The citation says:

As a teacher, lecturer, adjudicator, and above all, inspirer of musical activities, her long career has included work in her native Wales, the West Country, the Midlands, and the London area; abroad she has visited Canada, Australia, the USA and Patagonia. With an international reputation as a conductor at school and adult festivals, she became a valued adjudicator at Eisteddfodau at local, national and international levels and was influential in spreading Tonic Solfa teaching in Welsh schools.
