Y Ffordd Osgoi / The Bypass

The bypass relieved pressure on the narrow streets of Fishguard. The historic design of the town was never able to cope with the massive lorries destined for the ferry port. It is difficult, today, to recall how things were prior to the construction of the road. These photos remind us just how complicated a job it was.

Lleddfodd y ffordd osgoi y pwysau enfawr oedd ar strydoedd cul Abergwaun. Nid oedd cynllun hanesyddol y dref erioed yn gallu ymdopi â’r lorïau enfawr a oedd yn teithio i’r porthladd fferi. Mae’n anodd, heddiw, cofio sut yr oedd pethau cyn adeiladu’r ffordd. Mae’r lluniau hyn yn ein hatgoffa pa mor gymhleth oedd y gwaith o greu’r ffordd.
