The Knights of St.Columba, Fishguard were in the news in June 1977 whilst fundraising for the local community.

Extract from The County Echo –

In an effort to raise funds for the newly formed Abergwaun Social Club for the handicapped, young members of the Knights of St.Columba (Fishguard) plan to push a trolley from Swansea to Fishguard via Carmarthen, St.Clears, Tenby, Pembroke, Milford Haven and Haverfordwest. The mammoth push will commence from Swansea on Saturday, June 4th, and should end at Fishguard about 4p.m. the following Monday.The Abergwaun Social Club was formed recently to cater for the handicapped of all ages as far afield as St.Davids.

The push will be started in Swansea by Mr J Cocoran, the Provincial Grand Knight of the Knights of St.Columba, and received in Fishguard by the Town Mayor, Mr Irfon Walters. Time keepers for the push will be club officials Mr Brian Maddocks and Mr Peter Beaumont, while home for the pushers will be a coach kindly loaned by Mr Jackie Jenkins of Fishguard.
