Goleudy Pen Strwmbwl / Strumble Head Lighthouse

Wrth edrych ar y lluniau cynnar gallwn weld bod shimneau ar gyfer tan glo yn yr adeilad. Byddai stof yn y gegin ac aelwyd yn y stafell fyw. Cofnododd Mr Syd Walters mai ei dad, David R Walters, o Stop and Call oedd y cyntaf i gario glo i’r ynys. Gweithiodd gyda chwmni glo rhwng 1914-18 oherwydd, er yn ddyn ifanc, doedd ei iechyd ddim yn ddigon da iddo fynd i’r rhyfel.  Byddai cario glo i’r goleudy yn waith trwm. (Bu farw David yn 37 oed yn Nhachwedd 1918, pan oedd ei fab ifanca, Syd, yn 6 mis oed).

Looking at the early pictures we can see that there are chimneys on the roof. There would be a stove in the kitchen and a an open fire in the living room. Mr Syd Walters recorded that his father, David R Walters, of Stop and Call was the first to carry coal to the island. He worked with a coal company between 1914-18 because, although a young man, his health was not good enough for him to fight in The Great War. Carrying coal to the lighthouse would be heavy work. (David died at the age of 37 in November 1918, when his youngest son, Syd, was 6 months old).
