Fishguard Harbour - the creation of the quay

This series of photo’s show the progress being made in the construction of the harbour. In the 1st you can see a thin ribbon of boulders snaking it’s way along the base of the cliffs with the Cow+Calf at the far right.

In the 2nd you can see the rock platform edging out into the water and taking shape.

In the 3rd you can see that temporary rail lines have been laid so that excavators and other machinery can be used to speed the work rate up.

Next you can see that a large number of concrete blocks have been cast and are stored until they were fully cured, the blocks in the picture are to be used in constructing the quay wall, also notice the clouds of dust settling after blasting has taken place.

The last photo shows great progress has been made in widening the shelf still further, also the number of blocks being stored has greatly increased.
