Goodwick Railway Station

Goodwick Railway Station.

A clear picture of Goodwick railway station, known locally as the “Small Station” showing the rear of the signal box and layout of the tracks. The waiting room can be clearly seen, in which, was the ticket office. Usually, in cold weather, a coal fire would be burning in a grate in the waiting room.

Apparently, as the second platform has yet to be built, this dates the  photograph between 1899 and 1907.

  • This is a rare photo from an unusual position. It clearly shows the twin tracks- behind the Signal Box – leading to some railway sheds and perhaps the only Turntable in the County (enabling drivers to see where they are going!!) GWR was – for so many years – a hive of activity down the Harbour and at Goodwick Station.
