This little shop is believed to have been on what is now known as Goodwick Square.
The two ladies are – left to right – Rosie Moon and Ethel Eustice. Ethel, who was born in 1905 was the daughter of W A Eustice who started the business.
The Eustice family had moved to Goodwick from Caerphilly in South Wales sometime after 1911 – William Eustice was a commission agent (salesman) – perhaps he saw an opportunity for his young family in what was a thriving area with an increasing population, as a result of the development of the harbour. Sadly however William and his wife Alice died quite young – Alice in 1924 aged 43 and her husband William, just two years later in 1926.
Ethel continued to run the family business and later built a new premises at Overstream which she operated as a newsagents, tobacconists and confectioners – she was assisted in the business by her two brothers Frank and William. Ethel married Thomas Watts in 1944 and lived a long life in the local area – she died in 1992 aged 97 years
