These fine images show how the harbour at Fishguard was created. Considerable blasting took place along the edge of the cliffs to create a platform on which the harbour station could be built together with quay walls and land for the machine shops and power house etc.
Narrow gauge temporary track was laid to enable waggons, loaded with the blasted stone, to be taken back to the stone crushing plant which was sited just below Quay Road. The narrow gauge engines used were specifically built for contracting work.
