Byelaws of the Fishguard Harbour Improvement Company

The byelaws of 1888

This notice laid out the byelaws of the Fishguard Harbour Improvement Company which was established by an Act of Parliament in 1859 for the purposes of improving the harbour at Lower Town.

The original wharf as built by Richard Fenton in the late 1700s, was by 1840, in serious decline. After a few failed attempts, the Fishguard Harbour Improvement Company was successfully formed and via the sale of shares raised funds to create improved facilities at the harbour.
