Ganwyd Glynis Johns ar 5-1-1923 ym Mhretoria, De Affrica. Roedd yn ferch i’r actor enwog Mervyn Johns a anwyd ym Mhenfro.

Cafodd Glynis yrfa hir iawn ym myd actio gan ymddangos mewn ffilmiau o’r 1920au hyd at yr 1990au.

Yn Ionawr 1971, daeth i Abergwaun ar gyfer ffilmio fersiwn o ddrama radio Dylan Thomas ar gyfer y sgrin fawr. Cymrodd gymeriad Myfanwy Price, ac fe grewyd siop ar ei chyfer yn ‘Cwm Boat Stores’ ar y Cei. Ar ddiwedd y cyfnod ffilmio, cyn i’r offer pysgota a chychid gael ei ailosod yn y sio, gwahoddwyd plant y pentre i mewn i fwyta’r holl losin a oedd ar y cownter. Dyna beth oedd creu atgofion iddyn nhw!

Bu farw Glynis yn Los Angeles ar Ionawr 4ydd 2024 yn 100 oed.


Glynis Johns was born on 5-1-1923 in Pretoria, South Africa. She was the daughter of the famous actor Mervyn Johns who was born at Pembroke.

Glynis had a very long career in acting, appearing in films from the 1920s to the 1990s. In January 1971, she came to Fishguard to film a version of Dylan Thomas’ radio play for the big screen. She took on the character of Myfanwy Price, and a shop was created for her at ‘Cwm Boat Stores’ on the Quay. At the end of the filming period, before the fishing and boating equipment were replaced in the shop, the children of the village were invited in to eat all the sweets that were on the counter. What an experience to create memories!

Glynis died at the age of 100 at Los Angeles on 4-1-2024.
