Mwsland a'r hen bont / Mwsland with the old bridge.

Gellir gweld capel y Bedyddwyr ar y cornel i’r dde o’r bont, (ond cafodd hwn ei ddymchwel tua 1968), a thu ôl iddo, y Capel Methodistaidd (a brynwyd yn ddiweddarach gan yr Eglwys ac a ailenwyd yn Eglwys Genhadaeth Sant Nicolas ). Mae’r ffotograff hwn ymhell cyn adeiladu’r “rhiw newi” sy’n arwain i Dinas a Thydrath. Yn 1975, byddai’n rhaid i geffylau a cheirt a cherddwyr ddringo y rhiw serth “Newport Road” heibio i “Bodmor”.

Mae llwybr yn arwain i fyny’r cwm, (h.y. cyn croesi’r bont), gan ddilyn Afon Gwaun am yn agos i filltir neu fwy. Ar y llwybr mae adfeilion melin wlân a oedd yn berchen i Mr Henry Evans ac ymhellach i fyny eto mae olion bwthyn. Efallai mai’r llwybr hwn oedd y ffordd wreiddiol i Lanychaer, – pentref bach ychydig filltiroedd i ffwrdd o Abergwaun? Gallwch gerdded trwy Mwsland cyn belled â’r man lle mae Nant Creini yn uno gyda’r Afon Gwaun.

The now demolished Baptist chapel can be seen, and behind that, the Methodist Chapel (later purchased by the Church and renamed the Mission Church of St Nicholas ). This photograph is long before the building of the “New Hill” leading to Dinas and Newport; instead horses and carts and pedestrians had to negotiate the steep hill up the old “Newport Road” which wound up past the “Bodmor”.

Turning from the view of the bridge, the path leads up the valley closely following the river Gwaun for about a mile or more. On the path are the ruins of a woollen or fulling mill which was run by a Mr Henry Evans and further up still are the remains of a cottage. This path could have been the original road to Llanychaer a small village a few miles away from Fishguard? You can walk via Mwsland as far as the junction of Crinei Brook with Afon Gwaun.
