These two images are separated by around 25 years.
The first one can be dated to around 1885. The property bottom left is the Star Inn, at that time run by David Harries who was also a carpenter. The properties next door became 1 & 2 Ashgrove, but in this photo are still single storey cottages. In the foreground there appear to be small hay stacks in the field just below Tabor Chapel.
The second image can be dated to around 1910. At the top, Glanteg can just about be made out – this house was built for Captain Thomas James in 1908. Captain James and his wife Caroline had previously lived at Ashgrove – you can see 1 & 2 Ashgrove, next to the Star Inn. The original cottages have now been replaced by substantial gable fronted houses with attic rooms.
