Like many villages and communities, Dinas enthusiastically celebrated the 1937 coronation of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth.
These photographs appear to have been taken in the yard at Dinas School and show the “king and queen” together with their young attendants.
The names of the king and queen are not known but they were ably assisted on the day by Shirley Owen and Lily Mary Harries.
All the costumes are believed to have been made by Martha Harries of Bryn y Garn who was the grandmother of Lily May Harries.
