Ym mhapur newydd yr ‘Echo Fach’ ar y 5ed o Fedi 1907, adroddwyd am waith adnewyddu yn digwydd yn Smyrna. Cwmni ‘Phillips Bros’ o Lys-y-dryw oedd wrthi yn addurno  yr adeilad o’r tu fewn. Yr oedd sôn hefyd am drefniant newydd o ran claddedigaethau yn yr ardal. Gan fod tir claddu yn eisiau ar y Bedyddwyr yn Smyrna a’r Annibynwyr yng Nghapel Bethel, daethant i gytundeb â’i gilydd i sefydlu mynwent newydd. Mr W Bateman, Morfil gafodd y cyfrifoldeb o ganfod tir ar gyfer y fynwent a threfnu’r manylion.

In the ‘County Echo’ newspaper on the 5th of September 1907, a report appeared about work taking place st Smyrna.  ‘Phillips Bros’ from Llys-y-dryw Farm were busy decorating the building interior. There was also talk of a new arrangement in terms of burials in the area. As the Baptists at Smyrna and the Independents at Bethel Chapel were in need of burial ground, they came to an agreement with each other to establish a new cemetery. Mr W Bateman, Morvil was given the responsibility of securing a piece of land for the cemetery and organizing the details.

  • There is just a single gravestone at Smyrna Chapel, fixed on the front wall, commemorating founder John George of Fagwrfran Farm, who died in 1833 aged 83. He was the brother of William George of Tresinwen Farm, Pencaer. William was great-grandfather to David Lloyd George, British Prime Minister.
