Ron Taylor’s boxing booth was one of the main draws at the local fairs . As a boy I would go to 2 shows a night at the Fishguard and Letterston fairs and Bryn Phillips would be the star attraction . Ron Taylor would bring some top class professionals with him, but Bryn would hold his own against the best of them. You would also get a few people having a go after a few drinks, but with little success!
Bryn and Ron were big mates and at Ron’s funeral at Gloucester cathedral Bryn read the eulogy .
All the men in my family – my father, grandfather and uncle would make a beeline for the boxing booth once we arrived at the fair .
