Picture 1 is a group photo dated from the 1950’s of the young ladies of Pentowr Chapel with their music teacher Mrs E D Evans.

Back row (L to R) : Margaret Roach, Margot Grey, Anne Morgan, Jane Grey, Beryl Davies.

Front row (L to R) : Megan Roach, Mrs E D Evans, Olive Roach, Eirlys Owen.

Picture 2  “Another National Success” Fifteen – year – old Margot Grey, daughter of Mr & Mrs William Grey , Goodwick , and Grand Daughter of the well – known Eisteddfodwr, Mrs E.D Evans, Fishguard, was staged second out of twenty-one  competitors  in the 15-18 years pianoforte test at the Rhyl National Eisteddfod last week. With many National successes to her credit, Margot was also 3rd out of twenty-two competitors at last month’s International Eisteddfod at Llangollen.

Picture 3. “Young Goodwick Pianist on T.V” Miss Margot Grey, the talented young Goodwick pianist, is photographed during her television appearance in a television programme from London on Sunday. She gave an excellent performance and has received letters of congratulation from almost all parts of the country. The programme was well received on local T.V sets.

The photograph was taken directly from a T.V screen by Studio Jon, Fishguard. This is an operation which presents many technical difficulties and requires a great deal of skill on the part of the photographer. It is the first time for such a photograph to be taken in Pembrokeshire.

We would be pleased to hear of any other recollections about this group.

  • Mrs ED Evans was Margot and Jane Gray’s grandmother (and mine also – known to us as Mam).

Margot and Jane’s mum was Rhianon (Aunty Nanon to me) – Mam’s eldest daughter. She was one of seven Evans children – my dad (Evan/Studio Jon) being the youngest.

A talented musician in her own right, Mam taught piano to many local children over the years.
