The people in these two photographs were taken whilst haymaking at Maesteg Farm in Dinas in the 1950s. Can anyone help us to add names to the photographs and perhaps verify the date? Where was Maesteg Farm?

Thanks to regular contributor Len Urwin, we now have the answer to where was Maesteg Farm. Len has explained that Maesteg is a cottage in Jericho in Dinas but the George family who lived there owned a number of local fields on which they had established a small holding. The yellow areas on the above map show the George family fields.  For more information on the George family go to 19th Century Georges

  • The George family lived at number 1 Maesteg on the main road in Dinas Cross. They established a 10 acre smallholding on neighbouring land.
