Fishguard Bay Hotel and grounds

The Fishguard Bay hotel constructed by the Great Western Railway overlooked, and still does, the magnificent  harbour and the sea. Although the hotel has always been called Fishguard Bay Hotel, it is actually situated in Goodwick and during the last few years the hotel has been closed down.

The attached illustrated brochure gives details of the exact location, accommodation and facilities available for residents and visitors at that time.  The dining room could  hold 75 diners and residents had access to comfortable lounges, smoking and billiard rooms all with central heating if needed!

At one time, the Fishguard Bay Hotel had beautiful, landscaped, extensive gardens behind the hotel, laid out with woodland walks.  Outside, there was also a croquet lawn, a hard tennis court and nearby private bathing accommodation. The 18 hole golf course at Cwmbrandy had recently opened and residents could take advantage of exclusive fishing rights near Mathry, purchased by the GWR.

10 lockup garages were available, at a charge of 2/- per day or 10/- per week, for residents’ motor cars or motor cycles.

Illustrated floor plans of the hotel, a list of tariffs and general arrangements and their costs complete the brochure.
