There is a seemingly unique gravestone in St Mary’s churchyard, Trecwn. It is inscribed on one face in Welsh, and on the opposite face the English translation.
The latter reads “Sacred to the memory of David Higgon who died at Carndivo-Vach in this parish May 6th, 1855, aged 76 years. As a record of his faithful services to the Trecwn Family for more than 50 years; this stone was erected by his last master, Revd Charles Henry Barham.”
The Barham family formed the local gentry who commissioned the impressive stone school in Trecwn in 1875.
